Declan has been passionate about architecture and design for as long as he can remember. He is fascinated not only by buildings themselves, but by what they represent: connection, feeling, and belonging. He believes that well-designed spaces can shape how people live, interact, and experience the world, and it is this balance between emotion and function that drives his work.

Growing up around design, Declan watched his father run a building design business. Observing ideas come to life, navigating planning challenges, and consistently creating meaningful spaces taught him that great design is about more than appearance. It is about how a space functions, how it feels, and how it supports the people who use it.

Declan founded Decj Studio to explore his own design perspective. The studio is a space where creativity meets practicality, where materials, textures, and forms are explored while purpose and liveability remain at the core of every project. Each project is approached as an opportunity to deliver spaces that are beautiful, functional, and personal—spaces that allow people to truly make them their own.

He holds a Diploma in Building Design and is currently completing a Certificate IV in Interior Decorating. These qualifications provide a strong technical foundation for his work, while his focus remains firmly on designing spaces that enhance everyday life for those who inhabit them.

Declan approaches design as a process, a challenge, and a craft. Creating spaces that matter is central to why he designs.

“A building is just a structure until someone fills it with life. I want to design the spaces where those moments happen.” - Declan
