Hi, I’m Declan!
From as early as I can remember, I’ve been captivated by architecture. Not just the buildings themselves, but what they represent: moments of connection, feeling, and belonging. There’s something powerful about the way design can shape how we live and interact with the world around us. It’s this emotional quality of space, not just its function, that continues to drive my
work today.
At 21, I hold a Certificate IV in Residential Drafting and am currently studying for my Diploma in Building Design. But my journey began long before formal study. I grew up surrounded by design through my dad, who runs his own building design business. Watching him bring clients’ ideas to life, work through planning challenges, and always aim to create something meaningful had a lasting impact on me. It showed me that great design is not just about how something looks. It’s about how it works, how it feels, and how it supports the people who live in it.
I started decj studio as a way to explore and express my own design perspective. It’s where creativity meets practicality. A place where I experiment with forms, materials, and textures, and challenge myself to design with purpose. Every project is an opportunity to create something that’s both beautiful and functional, but also leaves space for people to make it their own.
My approach to design is simple. The best spaces are the ones that are useful and also emotionally resonant. Whether it’s a new build, a renovation, or a conceptual idea, I focus on detail, livability, and storytelling. I believe every space should reflect the people who use it and make their lives better.
Thank you for visiting. I’m excited to continue learning, growing, and building a studio that puts thoughtful design and meaningful experience at the heart of everything.
“A building is just a structure until someone fills it with life. I want to design the spaces where those moments happen.” - Declan
